Obituary: Shiflett


Roger Dale Shiflett, 78 of Chenoa; died at 9:07 pm, Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Heritage Healthcare, El Paso, IL.


Cremation rites have been accorded. Per Roger’s request there will be a private family graveside service in Chenoa Township Cemetery. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Chenoa is in charge of arrangements.


There will be a casual gathering at Roger & Ellen Jo’s house in Chenoa on Saturday, March 26, 2022 from 1 to 4 pm, for those who would like to stop by and share a memory and visit with the family.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Chenoa 4th of July Committee or the charity of the donor’s choice.


Roger was born June 21, 1943 in Chenoa; the son of H. Burrel and D. Lucille (Barnard) Shiflett. He married Ellen Jo Wendling on July 28, 1962 in Chenoa. His wife, Ellen Jo survives in Chenoa. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Vernon Shiflett and son in-law, Cody White.


Other survivors include his children, Ryan (Kay) Shiflett of Fairbury; Penny (Greg) Reed and Teri White both of Chenoa; five grandchildren, Emily (Raymond Bull) Shiflett, Seth and Nathan Reed, Kylie and Kinlie White; one great granddaughter, Oakleigh Bull and numerous nieces and nephews.


Roger was a huge Chenoa Athletics and Chicago sports team’s fan. He was an avid golfer with his top memory being a hole in one at Pontiac Elks Club. He spent many years organizing and playing in the Chenoa Open Golf Outing. He and his family enjoyed several years going to the Ozarks and the time spent with the Ozark family. Roger could most often be found mowing his yard or patrolling Chenoa on his golf cart with his K-9 sidekick "Buddy”.
