Frederick Kilcullen, 81, of Chenoa, passed away at 10:02 am on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 15th, 2024, at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury.
Prior to the funeral service there will be a visitation from 9:00 – 9:45 am on Monday, December 16th, 2024, at the First Baptist Church of Fairbury. Funeral service will begin at 10:00 am with Pastor Daryl Evans officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Fred’s name to the following organizations: Barnes-Jewish Hospital ; First Baptist Church of Fairbury ; American Red Cross ; First Church of God in Lovington.
Fred is survived by: sons, Michael Kilcullen, of Champaign, and Brad (Kim) Kilcullen, of Fairbury ; grandchildren, Jacob and Joshua Kilcullen ; and great-grandchild Madyson Kilcullen. He is also survived by his siblings: Thomas, William (Mary), Betty (Bob), and Shirley ; and siblings-in-law: Patricia, Joe, and Sharon.
He is preceded in death by both parents, his siblings John, Ellen, and Edward, and brother-in-law Bill.
Fred was born on May 17th, 1943 in Des Plaines, IL, the son of John and Irene (Mueller) Kilcullen. Fred studied and earned a Bachelors Degree in Mathematics and a Masters Degree in Education from Eastern Illinois University. He would go on to be a teacher in the Lovington school district for 26 years, Director of Transportation for Lovington school district and Chenoa school district, substitute teacher for Prairie Central school district, and throughout it all he was a school bus driver for 60 years.
Fred was a devote Christian and die-hard Cubs fan. He loved his 2 sons, 2 grandchildren, and great-granddaughter dearly. He loved Wheel of Fortune and the Lawrence Welk Show. One of his biggest joys was going on travel adventures with family and friends. He was very proud and thankful for the privilege of driving a school bus for 60 years. Fred has touched so many lives and will be missed by all.
