Obituary: Feit

Kent Casson

Alice Feit, 94, of Normal, IL, formerly of Chenoa, passed away peacefully of natural causes in the early morning hours on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, with family by her side.

Cremation rites have been accorded, and private family services will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.  Duffy-Pils Memorial Home is handling arrangements.

Alice was born on May 29, 1930, in the Bronx, New York City, the daughter of William Christopher and Mary Alice (McNamara) Hourigan on November 19, 1949.  She married Lawrence Feit at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington.  Lawrence preceded her in death on February 22, 1999.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Larry; son-in-law, Leonard Clark, four brothers, three sisters, and twin great-grandsons.

Alice is survived by her daughter, Nancy Clark of Chenoa, her sons, Paul Feit of Camdenton, MO and Peter “PJ” (Dacia) Feit of Lexington, nine grand-children; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Affectionately known as “Baby” by her family when growing up, Alice’s life took an unexpected yet beautiful turn when she met Lawrence on a blind date arranged by her childhood pen pal turned lifelong friend – an extraordinary friendship that lasted over 85 years.  Moving from the bustling streets of New York City to the quiet, rural countryside, she embraced farm life with love, resilience, and an open heart, creating a home filled with family, faith, friends and cherished memories.

Alice was always ready for a game - whether cards, board games, or puzzles – with anyone willing to play.  She loved swimming and welcomed every visitor, always prepared to cook a meal and share a story.  A passionate reader and an adventurous spirit, she never passed up the opportunity for a road trip or a new experience.  Alice will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
