
James Albert Dooley, 77, of Chenoa, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
He was born January 28, 1947 in Rock Island, the son of Frank and Wilma Thompson Dooley. He married Linda White on March 6, 1970. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2024.
James is survived by a son, Thomas (Tina) Dooley; a stepson Troy Edens; and six grandchildren, Landon, Mandy, Stephanie, Nicole, Tory, and Morgan. He is also survived two brothers, Mike and Delmer; and two sisters, Grace and Judy. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly, and a brother, Pat. James served his country in the United States Marine Corps, serving in combat during Vietnam. He worked at Caterpillar in Iowa and Pontiac for more than three decades. Later, he drove a school bus in Fairbury, where he often volunteered to drive the bus to sporting events.
He was a member of the VFW in Chenoa, as well as the Livingston Bass Anglers. James loved fishing and riding his Harley. He had a hearty sense of humor, and was known for his “dad jokes.”
A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
