A semi tractor and trailer were destroyed by fire Friday evening on Interstate 55 near the Illinois State University farm.
The box trailer contained miscellaneous items, according to Lexington Fire Chief Jason Birkenbeil. Firefighters from Lexington, Chenoa and Towanda responded to the blaze after 9 p.m. at milepost 179 of the interstate.
There were no reports of injuries, but the incident blocked traffic on the highway.
